The Christie Manchester to Blackpool ride is great cycling event - 60 miles from Salford Quays to a great finish with music, food and beer tent on the South Promenade in Blackpool. Lots of refreshment stops along the scenic country lanes of Lancashire, with marshals, cycle mechanics, medical and pick up vehicles looking after you. The Christie charity team will welcome you over the Finish line then enjoy music and refreshments with your friends and families.

*START TIMES ARE FOR GUIDANCE ONLY AND TO HELP REDUCE CONGESTION. IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR START TIME THERE'S NO NEED TO CONTACT BIKE EVENTS.
Pre-registered riders: check booking details in your online account area for your individual start time
Riders will be set off in groups at 30 second intervals.
Road / Hybrid / Mountain Bike suitable.

Minimum rider age 14. Riders under 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult over 18.
ALL riders aged 17 years or under MUST have a signed parental consent form. The form is emailed to each rider and posted in rider packs with the Ride Guide, and can also be downloaded HERE
Please email the completed form to enquiries@bike-events.co.uk or bring this to the bike ride Check In on the day. 16 and 17 year olds may cycle unaccompanied. 15 year olds and under MUST be accompanied by an adult.


ALL riders MUST wear a helmet. A selection of helmets will be available for purchase on the day

Ride Gradings

Suitable for anyone who enjoys a reasonably active life. The pace is gentle and the terrain flat to undulating. Distances no more than 30 miles (50km).

Suitable for those with slightly more cycling experience. the terrain can be a little hillier than grade 1.5 and distances up to 45 miles (70km).

For the regular and reasonably fit cyclist. The terrain may include some challenging hills and distances up to 75 miles (110km).

These routes require a good level of fitness and stamina and feature challenging inclines and/or a longer time in the saddle. Distances can be up to 100 miles (160km).

Getting here by car

Car parking for the Start is at Quayside Media City Car Park (formerly known as Lowry Outlet), Manchester M50 3AH.
£5 flat rate for the whole day for event participants. Pay on leaving, at Pay Station, but first show your rider number at the Customer Service Hub on the First Floor of the Centre. They'll give you a 'special tariff' ticket to use at the Pay Station. The Customer Service Hub is open 11.00am until 5.00pm; outside of those times please use the intercom, or call 0161 848 1840. Car park is open 24 hours.
BE AWARE height restriction 2.1m. Remove bikes from your car roof (Bike Events are not responsible for any damage if you don't do this).

Parking near the Finish is at the Pay and Display car park on South Yeadon Way, FY1 6BF
Please don't block any dropped kerbs in the Harrowside area or you'll get a Penalty Charge notice.

SPECIAL COACHES & TRUCKS will run from Blackpool in the morning to take riders (and their bikes) to the Start, and in the afternoon to take riders back to Manchester. Please book in advance to guarantee a seat
Transport ticket holders please note:
Morning coaches leave at 6.30am sharp from Blackpool (FY4 1RW). Please meet at 6.00am by the Solaris Centre, South Promenade, Blackpool to start loading. If you book MORNING transport, your name will be on the passenger list that we'll have with us.

Coaches will run at set times in the afternoon to take cyclists/bikes back to the Start - between approximately 1.30pm and 5.30pm. All journeys are non-stop. Go to the Bike Events tent on arrival in Blackpool - if you have
booked afternoon transport you will receive a ticket for the next available service.
Transport tickets are NON REFUNDABLE.
We stack the bikes on the trucks very carefully but if you have any particular concerns about your bike then please bring your own pipe lagging with you to protect the frame.

Getting here by train

Trains from Blackpool to Manchester will this year allow 2 bikes on board per train (free of charge) - buy your ticket at the station, but beware of this restriction on number of cycles.
