Cycle Chile and Argentina
The redspokes Patagonian Lake District cycling tour journeys through one of the most magnificent landscapes in the world. This spectacular area of South America spans 300km from north to south and overlaps the dramatic Andean Mountains that border Chile and Argentina.
The ever-changing scenery, shaped by millions of years of volcanic activity, is a landscape of outstanding natural beauty. Smouldering volcanoes still dominate the skyline alongside snow-capped mountains and towering granite peaks. The lower slopes of the Andes are blanketed with ancient rainforest and lush vegetation and the deep valleys are filled with icy fjords, emerald lakes and tumbling waterfalls.
We leave Puerto Montt following the Reloncavi Fjord towards Volcán Yate and cycle on to Bariloche; adventure capital of the Argentinean Lake District. We enjoy a rest day before tackling the famous circular cycle route. Our next stop is San Martin de los Andes set in beautiful lakeside surroundings, before we reach Pucón; the main adventure tourism destination in the Chilean Lake District, with the dramatic backdrop of Volcán Villarrica. We cycle past glistening lakes, verdant forests and icy mountain tops. We reach Cunco along the Interlagos Route before arriving at Chile's first geo park: Parque Conguillio - home to South America's most active Llaima Volcano.
